It connects your board to the rigand if it fails, youre left drifting with no control. Worst case? A dangerous situation far from shore. Thats why its so important to regularly inspect your mast base for signs of wear. Read below for what to look for:Common Issues and How to Spot Them: Rubber joint (Powerjoint):Cracks, brittleness, or a dry surface? Replace it immediately chances are, it wont last much longer. Tendon joint:Hairline cracks or deformations in the plastic are early warnings. Dont risk it; better safe than sorry. Safety rope:If your mast base has a built-in backup line, make sure its intact. A frayed or worn-out rope wont help if the joint breaks. Metal parts:Check bolts and screws for rust or fatigue.
