SEVERNE MOTO 7.8M TEST REVIEW 2024
SEVERNE MOTO 7.8M TEST REVIEW 2024CATCH UP TEST: SEVERNE MOTO 7.8MThe Verdict The Severne Moto is both beautiful to look at and sail. The Moto delivers cambered performance in a clean cut package that can something provide for everyone thanks to its higher skin tension, which promotes stable power regardless of the conditions and crisp power delivery, all of which make the Moto a joy to sail. It offers performance you wont want to miss out on.The Lowdown A brand new sail from Severne, the Moto morphs two sails into one, the Overdrive and Turbo. Combining the speed and stability of the Overdrive and the lightweight user-friendliness of the Turbo. With high skin tension and rigged to the recommended settings, the Moto has significant leech fall away. So much so, I did briefly question it, but dont, as it provides a mesmerising twist to the sail that blends seamlessly into the full draft belly of the Moto, where the two cams have created an efficient foil for you. Rigged on a reduced diameter mast (RDM) makes the Moto very easy to rig the cams pop on easily so cammed sails have never been so simple to rig. It can be rigged on a standard diameter mast (SDM), but you just need to swap out the cams. With a boom length of 200cm, the Moto sits at the short end of the spectrum, which along with its light-in-the-hands feel, will make it easy to place, handle, and move through transitions. Its highly tapered luff sleeve helps make the Moto lighter than other race sails, so its also going to make any uphauling or waterstarting easier, which will increase the Motos appeal and accessibility to riders. The Moto is a clean, crisp, and smart engine. The entire range from 4.8m to 8.4m can be rigged on just three masts and one boom, while it screams Severnes attention to detail and comes in their signature red monofilm to complete the look.Brand Claim Combining the speed and stability of the Overdrive with the lightweight user-friendliness of the Turbo, the Moto simplifies all aspects of freeride. One sail for all.PerformanceInstantly in the hands, the Moto is an impressively light sail and it certainly doesnt feel its size. Add in its short boom length for a sail this size, and it is impressively compact. As such, its very easy to manoeuvre and handle, and thats just on the beach. Up and on the board, the Moto offers good low-end grunt thats very workable for the rider as you begin to pump yourself up onto the plane. The Moto responds well to targeted input, with the centre of effort positioned low and forwards. The Moto is easy to commit to and work with as it remains stable and usable even in fully powered conditions. The faster the Moto goes, the better it feels, feeling crisp and locked in place. Looking up at the Moto at speed, regardless of the conditions, the impressive amount of fall away at the leech while at rest, is now beautifully taut and mesmerisingly twisted, working hard for the rider to maintain control and stability while offering the ultimate efficiency. Gybing the Moto is a wonderful thing considering its a cambered sail it handles with simplicity and the cams rotate with great ease. You can treat the Moto like a rotational sail without cams and itll still happily rotate for you after your rig flip before setting you on your merry way once again. The Moto doesnt require you to change your sailing style, while its compact boom length makes placing and moving the sail an absolute breeze. The Moto offers the ultimate blend, bringing benefits from both ends of the cam vs no cam spectrum.www.severnesails.comSEVERNE MOTO 7.8M TEST REVIEW 2024VITAL STATSPrice: 899Size: 7.8mLuff: 490cmBoom: 200cmBattens: 7Cams: 2Ideal Mast: RDM Red 460Available sizes: 4.8, 5.2, 5.8, 6.4, 6.8, 7.2, 7.8, 8.4The post SEVERNE MOTO 7.8M TEST REVIEW 2024 appeared first on Windsurf Magazine.
