GOYA CUSTOM QUAD 8 PRO CARBON: 2025 TEST REVIEW
GOYA CUSTOM QUAD 8 PRO CARBON: 2025 TEST REVIEWGOYA CUSTOM QUAD 8 PRO CARBON: 2025 TEST REVIEWTHE VERDICTThe Goya Custom Quad 8 is comfortable, quick and offers ultimate riding agility. The Custom Quad 8 delivered on all fronts, carrying the rider comfortably, while possessing an innate ability to adapt to the rider in an instance. The lightweight and well-balanced Custom Quad 8 is a real master of riding and a real favourite among the test team.THE LOWDOWNThe Custom Quad 8 has been redesigned, revised and reworked. Regardless of how you put it, the Custom Quad 8 has a fresh new look, with its construction and build process being completely overhauled. Before diving into the details, it stands out on the beach with its unfinished appearance blended with a washed-out lime green colour scheme. You can see some of the layup process, and with its jet-black pads, it almost looks reptilian for me personally its a very attractive board. Looking closer at the details of the revamped Custom Quad 8, you immediately notice its overall weight and balance in your hands. Thanks to some clever design and forward thinking, Goya have shaved off weight in nearly every aspect. Key points include the water-transfer graphics, segmented deck pads with targeted dual density, before sloping away to only provide cushioning where needed, and a rear kick pad with carved-out holes. Additionally, custom-made US fin boxes are fitted. These features significantly reduce weight and improve balance, with the aim of making the board feel more connected to the rider and reducing swing weight when gouging turns and sending some spray flying. The Custom Quad 8 also features a more efficient rocker line, with a higher nose and flatter tail section, making it faster and more efficient at getting planing. Lastly, the improved volume distribution ensures a comfortable and stable ride. Whether its from the first moment you lay eyes on the Custom Quad 8, or when youre handling it and diving into the finer details, the Custom Quad 8, on first appearances, is a very attractive ride and thats before even hitting the water.BRAND CLAIMThe new Custom Quad has a more connected feel to the water during the turn, it has an instant response to rider input and goes exactly where you want it to go. Reduced swing weight means the Custom Quad feels lighter and more balanced during manoeuvres.PERFORMANCEQuick to get up and going, the Custom Quad 8 loves power, but never runs away from you. Its fast, but not uncontrollably so; it follows your lead immediately. Direct it with more power off the wind, and youll get the speed you need to hit the next ramp in your sights. While its slightly limited in upwind ability compared to others in this test, it still gets you there it just requires a bit more input and technique from the rider to really push upwind at those angles. In lighter winds, or when struggling for power on the inside, in white water and reforms, the Custom Quad 8 truly shines. It supports my broader stature well, keeping me stable until the wind fills back in or the opportunity to get going comes along. This is a real benefit for larger riders looking to downsize their board to access real wave-riding performance. The Custom Quad 8s lightness is immediately noticeable once youre up and going. The straps are perfectly positioned, allowing you to slip into them with ease. Its lightness and overall balance let you switch between control and agility at will, responding intuitively to the rider. Gybes and tacks are light and smooth with the Custom Quad 8 naturally maintaining speed through gybes, keeping you stable and focused on the water and not just the manoeuvre itself. When confronted with a wave the Custom Quad 8 is like a magic carpet ride. It sticks to the pace of the wave, letting you turn wide or tighten up and go vertical at the last moment. It rolls easily from rail to rail as you turn, making top turns, bottom turns, and floaters much more manageable. Riding the Custom Quad 8 feels like wearing a slipper or a mere extension of your body its lightness and balance allow you to drive the tail, throw some spray, or slide longer, then immediately tuck it back under for the next section of the wave. Though tested primarily in onshore conditions, the Custom Quad 8s performance strongly hints at how enjoyable it would be in cleaner, more predictable conditions.WEBSITE: www.goyawindsurfing.comGOYA CUSTOM QUAD 8 PRO CARBON: 2025 TEST REVIEWVITAL STATSPrice: 2399Volume (Quoted): 88LLength: 223cmWidth: 58.5cmBottom Shape: Vee Double Concave to Double Concave to Single Concave (nose to tail)Weight: 6.95kg (Fins & Straps) 5.65kg (Naked)Fin: Quad x2 MFC 15.5cm & x2 MFC 9cmSail Range (Quoted): Up to 5.7mSizes Available: 56, 60, 68, 74, 80, 84, 88, 94, 104, 116OTHER BOARDS IN THIS TESTDuotone Grip 4 SLS 87L JP Australia Ultimate Wave S-Tec 87L Quatro Cube 6 86LSeverne Pyro 87L Starboard Ultra Carbon Reflex 86LBACK TO TEST OVERVIEWThe post GOYA CUSTOM QUAD 8 PRO CARBON: 2025 TEST REVIEW appeared first on Windsurf Magazine.

    JP-AUSTRALIA ULTIMATE WAVE S-TEC 87L: 2025 TEST REVIEW
JP-AUSTRALIA ULTIMATE WAVE S-TEC 87L: 2025 TEST REVIEWJP-AUSTRALIA ULTIMATE WAVE S-TEC 87L: 2025 TEST REVIEWTHE VERDICTThe JP-Australia Ultimate Wave range allows you to adjust your speed to match the pace of the wave and play in symmetry as you hit powerful sections thanks to its ability to perform snappy turns and smooth, well-paced bottom turns.THE LOWDOWNThe JP-Australia Ultimate Wave comes with a distinctive, unfinished, almost industrial look with a classic JP purple splash on the tail and nose, which makes the Ultimate Wave an eye-catching board. Aesthetically, its quite different from previous graphics. In terms of weight, its one of the lightest boards in the category thanks to JPs new S-TEC technology. Theres no paint; the grip is placed only in standing areas with simple, smaller, and thinner pads, meaning less EVA and less glue. Their refined custom lamination process, where fibres are prepared and laminated separately, provide a mix of durability and low weight for the rider. When it comes to the Ultimate Waves volume, it seems to be primarily concentrated between the shoulders and hips, thinning out to a narrow tail with thinner rails, which may not result in the most stable overall tail outline, or volume distribution when underpowered, however, its not called the Ultimate Wave for nothing. Instead, the Ultimate Wave will give you better control and responsiveness while riding on a wave, or passing through/over white water and reforms when you are powered.Overall, the Ultimate Wave seems to possess a flatter rocker compared to previous years, but still boasts adequate nose kick to prevent any unwanted nose burying and catapults. A Single Concave in the tail increases speed, and more importantly, helps maintain speed once planing. This suggests that the Ultimate Wave will be able to sit comfortably at the speed on the wave, putting the rider in a better position to make tactical decisions, while enhancing both overall speed and agility when you choose to drop down the face and ride. The Ultimate Wave is also the exact production board that Robby Swift used slightly earlier this year to claim joint fifth place in Pozo. The board is designed to handle powerful conditions, allowing riders to think fast, control speed, and stay on their toes.BRAND CLAIMIntroduced last year, these shapes burst into the wave scene with force: In no time, the word of mouth spread that they are the ultimate wave boards! This years innovation is a brand new technology called S-TEC which boosts the boards performance to a whole new level.PERFORMANCEThe Ultimate Wave asks the rider to stand forward, where it holds most of its volume and width, to remain stable until conditions allow you to drive it onto the plane and work your way back into the straps. Immediately the Ultimate Wave delivers decent upwind angles when you command them, particularly when nicely powered, while through the mid-point of the tack things remain smooth as you step around the UJ where the buoyancy is predominantly held. Its drawn-in tail and light construction allow for nimble changes of direction as you pick your path out to cleaner waves. While the Ultimate Wave may not be lightning quick, this has its benefits as it feels locked in and picks up waves early thanks to its tail shape and slight tail extension. Once planing, it holds its speed well, allowing you to drop some power when needed, while still maintaining adequate pace with the wave thanks to its Single Concave section, which allows you to time your attack. Bottom turns are smooth and allow speed to be carried, while its slim tail encourages rail to rail riding, allowing you to perform sharp, aggressive top turns and send spray flying. The Ultra Wave relishes well timed top turns to keep you with the flow and rhythm of the wave. Work with the wave and the sections the wave presents, such as a pitching lip or breaking section, and the Ultimate Wave will greatly reward you. The Ultimate Wave loves to be played to the rhythm and power of the wave, whether youre fully powered or not, and is more than capable of performing in a variety of conditions. However, it will truly excel in cleaner, more predictable conditions.Website: www.jp-australia.comJP-AUSTRALIA ULTIMATE WAVE S-TEC 87L: 2025 TEST REVIEWVITAL STATSPrice: No Current Info on WebsiteVolume (Quoted): 87LLength: 224cmWidth: 59cmBottom Shape: Vee Double Concave to Double Concave to Single Concave to Vee at the tailWeight: 6.75kg (with straps but without fins)Fin: Quad (Fins not supplied with board)Sail Range (Quoted): 4.2-6.0mSizes Available: 75, 81, 87, 93, 101OTHER BOARDS IN THIS TESTDuotone Grip 4 SLS 87LGoya Custom Quad 8 Pro Carbon 88L Quatro Cube 6 86LSeverne Pyro 87L Starboard Ultra Carbon Reflex 86LBACK TO TEST OVERVIEWThe post JP-AUSTRALIA ULTIMATE WAVE S-TEC 87L: 2025 TEST REVIEW appeared first on Windsurf Magazine.

    QUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEW
QUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEWQUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEWTHE VERDICTThe Quatro Cube 6 offers ultimate ease of use blended with riding performance. The Cube 6 is a versatile weapon, which makes the most of onshore waves with its ability to grip and remain composed, while still turning tightly for snappy turns. Its lightness makes it more intuitive and allows the rider to lead the way.THE LOWDOWNThe Cube 6 features a subtle washed-out grey and white finish, revealing parts of the layup on the top, along with a washed-out yellow that adds a spark of colour to a grey onshore wave. At first glance, the Cube 6 might appear slightly unfinished and unassuming as it sits on the beach, but dont be fooled the Cube 6 has been reworked, beginning with a reduction in overall weight. It incorporates KT Surfings single-to-dual-density traction pads, which are segmented and sloped, as well as custom-made Quatro US fin boxes, water transfer graphics, and carved-out holes in the rear kick pad. These are just a few of the highlights that contribute to the weight reduction. This, in turn, improves the overall balance of the Cube 6, which is immediately noticeable when you hold it. It promises intuitive and responsive riding once on the water. When inspecting the hull, youll notice that Quatro has upgraded the Cube with a new V-Double to Single Concave bottom shape, increasing speed and grip. Meanwhile, the volume is distributed in a pleasant manner historically, the Cube has been known for its friendly volume distribution, but the Cube 6 appears even more user-friendly than before, which not only improves usability, but also early planing and speed retention especially when combined with its slightly lower overall rocker. The Cube 6 exudes user-friendly vibes while delivering performance that fully engages with the rider when riding on a wave.BRAND CLAIMThis 6th generation Cube has received the biggest performance upgrade yet with the new V-Double-Single bottom shape, increasing speed and grip with the same easy to use volume distribution and compact outline to fit into the tightest pocket.PERFORMANCEStepping onto the Cube 6, you immediately feel like youre on a longer board you arent, but something about its outline, proportions, and where you stand makes it feel as though you are. The Cube 6 feels comfortable underfoot, and when off the plane, it sits happily and holds its ground well. Getting going on the Cube 6 is easy, with ample space behind the mast foot and a tail extension that makes moving back into the straps feel natural. The straps present themselves to you, so you dont have to search for them. Holding speed and maintaining pace, the Cube 6 is an efficient machine, quickly accelerating to its ample top speed. Lulls are a thing of the past as the tail extension carries the load through to the next gust, and its bottom shape allows for a lower planing threshold. Transitions are nimble and very much led by the rider with the Cube 6 reacting to the slightest input when youre back in the straps. The Cube 6 lets you pick your route out to the line-up in both onshore and more classic down-the-line conditions. Its broad planing threshold and tail extension are the Cube 6s gift to you, allowing you to sit on the crest of a wave well in advance before its fully formed, or mere seconds before dropping down the face for your first committed and gouging turn. Bottom turns are smooth, locked in and controlled, while being positive with the back foot allows you to tighten up turns and go vertical at a moments notice even in bolt onshore conditions, which is impressive. The Cubes natural proportions keep the rig forward, giving the rider plenty of space to move, twist, play, and make the absolute most of the conditions on offer.WEBSITE: www.quatro1994.comQUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEWVITAL STATSPrice: 2399Volume (Quoted): 86LLength: 223.5cmWidth: 58.5cmBottom Shape: Vee Double Concave to Double Concave to Single Concave (nose to tail)Weight: 6.5kg (Fins & Straps) 5.75kg (Naked)Fin: Quad x2 MFC 15.5cm & x2 MFC 9cmSail Range (Quoted): Up to 5.7mSizes Available: 74, 78, 82, 86, 92, 102OTHER BOARDS IN THIS TESTDuotone Grip 4 SLS 87LGoya Custom Quad 8 Pro Carbon 88L JP Australia Ultimate Wave S-Tec 87LSeverne Pyro 87L Starboard Ultra Carbon Reflex 86LBACK TO TEST OVERVIEWThe post QUATRO CUBE 6 86L: 2025 TEST REVIEW appeared first on Windsurf Magazine.
